Men’s hockey competition at the 2022 Beijing Olympics ends on Saturday night when Finland takes on the Russian Olympic Committee team in the gold medal match. The opening puck drop at the National Indoor Stadium in Beijing is scheduled for 11:10 p.m. ET.
Both teams are listed at -110 on the silver line in Caesars Sportsbook’s latest Finland v ROC odds, and the Over/Under for total goals is set at 4.5. Finland are a slight +150 favorite on the 60-minute money line, with an ROC at +155 and a tie at the price of +265.
Before you lock in your ROC vs. Finland picks or your Beijing 2022 Olympics predictions, you need to see what SportsLine Olympics expert Mike Tierney has to say. (Head to SportsLine’s 2022 Olympics page for more analysis and updates.)
A national sportswriter whose work appears in the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times, Tierney has covered nine Olympic Games in person. For Rio in 2016, Tierney took full advantage. He told readers to bet Over on the number of Team USA gold medals (41.5) and Over on the total number of Team USA medals (102.5). The result? 46 gold medals, 121 medals and two easy wins.
For the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Tierney hit two of his three predictions: Germany (+200) for winning the most gold medals and the United States for under 10.5 medals gold (+110). And at the Tokyo Games last year, he correctly predicted that the United States would win over 111.5 medals overall (-110).
The Finns haven’t allowed an even-strength goal since Game 1, and goaltender Harri Sateri allowed just four goals on 115 shots in the tournament. They beat Slovakia 1-0 to qualify, with Sakari Manninen (four goals, team record) scoring late in the first half.
The Russians didn’t score much, but they found a way to win. They needed a shootout to reach the gold medal game after Sweden tied the game in the third period. Anton Slepyshev scored in the semi-finals and is one of three ROC players with two goals.
Now, Tierney has analyzed Saturday night’s gold medal game. We can tell you that he leans under the total of 4.5 goals, but his strongest play is on one side. He knows a crucial x-factor that makes a team a go-to player. You MUST see what he has to say before locking in your choices.

Tierney’s choice and analysis:
Men’s Hockey, Gold Medal Game
Finland vs. ROC (11:10 p.m. ET)
Pick: Finland -110 money line
To win, you have to score. The Russian Olympic Committee team reached the gold medal game despite a lack of goals – only five in the whole tournament when the net was not cleared by the opposing goalkeeper. Finnish goalkeeper Harri Sateri is on fire, with four goals conceded in 115 attempts. Since their first game, Finland have not allowed a single goal at even strength. The ROC may have started two weeks ago as undisputed favourites, but the Finns have been more impressive. The Russians need to knock at least twice to stand a chance. Don’t count on it.
