Predictions Finland vs ROC

Finland (-110)

The main difference between Finland and the ROC in this men’s Olympic hockey tournament is that Finland has been more effective offensively. Finland have scored on 13.79% of their shots, a high mark that may not be sustainable in the long run, but they are heading into the final game – there are no long-term concerns beyond that .

Part of that success is due to Finland’s stellar power play, which clicks 30.77% in five games.

Finland’s top two scorers in the tournament are Sakari Manninen and Teemu Hartikainen, both tied for the tournament lead with seven points. Manninen is a 30-year-old player in his fourth season in the KHL, so he should be familiar with his gold medal competition. Finland also has solid depth. Beyond Manninen, who has four goals, Miro Aaltonen, Harri Pesonen and Iiro Pakarinen have each scored three goals at these Olympics.

They’re not an offensive powerhouse, but there’s some semblance of scoring balance.

Goalkeeper to decide Olympic gold

Goalkeeper Harri Sateri has been outstanding for Finland, posting a .965 save percentage in four games. Sateri has also spent a lot of time in the KHL, including the past three seasons, so he will know many of the shooters he faces.

The ROC has tended to play lower rated matches at the Olympics. His top scorer was former New Jersey Devils winger Nikita Gusev, who had five assists in five games. The ROC have five other players who have contributed three points in five games but, as well as scoring five goals in a loss to Czechia, they are a true all-rounder.

Considering how weak the games have been, the ROC relied heavily on goaltender Ivan Fedotov, and he responded with a .944 save percentage. Russia allowed shots at a lower rate – 27.3 shots per 60 minutes with Fedotov in the net, compared to 28.8 shots per 60 minutes with Sateri in the Finland goal, but Finland were more productive offensively and this should overcome this relatively weak shot suppression perk. . It’s time for Finland to win a gold medal.

More than 4.5 (+118)

Three of Finland’s five games have resulted in a total of six or more goals and an average of 5.4 per game. His semi-final effort against Slovakia was perhaps more defensive than expected and that may be what it will take to clinch a gold medal against ROC. Finland has the ability to score more even if it’s a tight game.

The ROC operated in a very defensive style, scoring 21 goals for both sides in five games. Notably, 11 of those 21 goals came in one game. It’s possible that the ROC could win a low-scoring game with Finland, but with such a low total, get the upper hand with plus-money value on FanDuel.
