Neeraj Chopra wins gold at Kuortane Games in Finland

Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra continued his impressive performance on Saturday to clinch gold at the 2022 Kuortane Games in Finland.

Neeraj threw 86.69m to take the top prize in tricky and wet conditions. In rainy conditions, Chopra started well but was fouled on her second pitch, ANI reported.

The Indian javelin thrower touched the goal on his very first try of the tournament, fouled on his second try and slipped badly on his third attempt, after which he opted to skip the remaining two attempts .

Trinidad’s Keshorn Walcott settled for silver with a throw of 86.64m while Anderson Peters won bronze with a throw of 84.75m. India’s Sandeep Chaudhury finished eighth in the standings with a throw of 60.35m, the report added.

Earlier this month, Neeraj competed at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland and won the silver medal while setting a new national record with a throw of 89.30m. The Golden Boy of India will next take part in the Stockholm leg of the Diamond League on June 30.
